Conference Board Survey Data Analysis

Problem Statement
How do leading, coincident, and lagging economic indicators compare across major economies? This Power BI dashboard visualizes Conference Board data for the USA, UK, Germany, India, Mexico, and others to identify divergences in business cycle positioning and surface early signals of economic turning points.
Methodology
Data & ETL Pipeline
The dataset from The Conference Board includes leading, coincident, and lagging economic indicators for major countries like the USA, UK, Mexico, and others. It covers the timeframe from August 2022 to June 2023.
The raw data required significant preprocessing. Python scripts were used to read in and transform the data from a multi-row header format into a single header row. Additional manipulation involved melting (wide to long format) and exploding (splitting stacked values into rows) to prepare the data for analysis and visualization.
AI-Powered Categorization
The diverse set of economic indicators was categorized using an AI large language model, enabling logical interpretation and grouping. This AI-powered categorization combined with treemap visualization makes exploring the comprehensive indicator dataset more insightful.
